Start A ProjectWest Village Residence
Designed for a young family in Manhattan's historic West Village, this residence balances timeless sophistication with everyday comfort, drawing inspiration from one of New York City's most enduring neighborhoods. Rich in architectural character and creative history, the West Village provided more than a setting for the project. It became an essential influence on the home's atmosphere, encouraging interiors that feel collected, welcoming, and deeply rooted in place.
Natural stone, warm wood, and hand-troweled plaster establish a restrained architectural foundation, while silk rugs, carefully selected antiques sourced throughout New York and Paris, and bespoke furnishings introduce layers of history and craftsmanship. Sculptural Vladimir Kagan serpentine sofas soften the geometry of the great room, creating moments of movement and comfort that complement the home's refined architectural language.
Reflecting the family's cosmopolitan lifestyle and love of entertaining, every space balances quiet elegance with moments of personality. Jewel-toned accents, thoughtfully curated artwork, and expressive decorative lighting introduce warmth without overwhelming the interiors, while traditional craftsmanship and contemporary forms exist in effortless conversation throughout the residence.
In the bedroom, soft gray tones, a tufted bench, and a deep indigo chest with polished rock crystal knobs create a restful balance of luxury and warmth. Sketches of bespoke pieces reveal the care behind each custom detail.
The children's rooms bring color and play to the home, one in saturated blue with a lofted bed, the other softened by ombré drapery and feather wallpaper.
The completed home embraces the timeless character of the West Village while creating a setting that feels distinctly contemporary, deeply personal, and designed to evolve with the family for years to come.
