Interior Architecture • Interior Design

Designed for a pied-à-terre overlooking Gramercy Park, this Manhattan residence interior responds directly to the Cubist-inspired architecture of the building itself, balancing bold geometry with warmth, softness, and sculptural form. The building's dramatic angles and interlocking architectural planes inspired an interior approach that introduces softness and fluidity, creating a beautiful contrast to its strong geometric character.

Gramercy Park Pied-à-Terre

Instead of echoing the architecture's sharp precision, Daun Curry Studio introduced a language of gentle curves, tactile materials, and carefully considered proportions. Sculptural furnishings, richly textured fabrics, and a centrally positioned fireplace establish moments of calm within the home's dynamic architectural framework, creating an effortless dialogue between structure and comfort.

In the primary bedroom, a channel-tufted headboard and soft, tonal linens create a calm, enveloping retreat. Bespoke details, including a sculptural writing desk shown here in both sketch and finished form, bring individuality to every corner.

A restrained palette of natural materials, bespoke furnishings, and handcrafted details allows the architecture to remain the focal point while introducing subtle layers of warmth and personality. Unexpected moments of color, texture, and artistry create interiors that reveal themselves gradually, encouraging discovery while maintaining an overall sense of quiet refinement.

A deep blue library introduces drama and intimacy. Velvet seating, built-in shelving, and bold geometric artwork create a richly layered retreat, while detailed sketches reveal the precision behind the custom joinery.

Handcrafted ceramic wall sculptures, a jewel-toned powder room, and carefully placed artwork bring quiet moments of surprise to the entry and transition spaces.

The completed residence offers a welcome counterpoint to the energy of Manhattan, where architectural precision and everyday comfort exist in thoughtful balance.
